Pearl Gallery Fall Show
September 29, 2010 by Kathleen
The Pearl Gallery Fall Show Opening was last Thursday night, the 23rd.  It was a wonderful evening where Artists and Art Lovers mingled amongst some fabulous pieces.  I had the opportunity to meet Bryan Cooper, the creative guy behind some amazing clay figures.  He was the featured artist in this summer’s show, having photographed so very cleverly, his clay masterpieces.  You must check out his website….he is something!!
I also had the pleasure of meeting artist, Rochelle Wald of Stillwater.  This lovely lady was the featured Artist of the Fall show and her work is spectacular.  Her paintings are of women in various form, and her use of color and texture are something to see!!!
I visited with my friends and fellow artists, Celeste Vaught and Anne Spoon.  They have some lovely new paintings and pastel pieces.  One of Celeste’s pieces is a beautiful floral pastel with soft curvy strokes.  One of Anne’s paintings is a nude with very soft lighting, which exudes a very serene feel.
My friend, artist, Julie Miller was unable to make the Opening, but she has two wonderful pieces.  One is a large painting of the Cimarron River with a mixture of both bold and soft colors and large brush strokes.
I have three pieces of my “true” black and white photography in the Fall Show.  They are of landscapes around Oklahoma State Parks.  My first piece is a 20×30 on canvas of Lake Altus during a drought.  The water level is so low, that hundreds of tires (I can only assume they are there for erosion purposes) are visibly strapped together and strewn in a meandering pattern.  It makes an interesting composition.  My second piece is of a street near Turner Falls, called Jollyville.  In the background is an obviously abandoned tourist court, that was, at one time, full of families and fun!  My last piece is of the Mountainfork River at Beavers Bend State Park.  It was at dusk, and I was balancing my tripod on top of rocks in the river, so I could capture the absolute beauty and serenity I was experiencing.
The show runs through October 23rd, so you have plenty of time to visit the Pearl Gallery.  It is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 11 to 5.  Janet and Doug Edwards are the owners of this jewel just east of downtown Tulsa off of 3rd and Peoria.  Stop in and see them and this wonderful show!!

Pearl Gallery Show to Open Thursday Sept. 23
September 11, 2010 by Kathleen

I am pleased to announce that the Pearl Gallery has accepted 3 of my Black and White Fine Art Photography Pieces for the upcoming September /October Show.  I chose 3 of my B&W,Oklahoma Landscape pieces to enter.  The first is of Lake Altus during a very dry spell…..instead of water, the lake seems to be full of old strapped-together tires.  The second piece is of Lake Murray near Ardmore.  It is taken at dawn and the lights and darks are very dramatic; one of my favorites.  The third piece is of an old abandoned tourist court near Turner Falls. The ironic part is that the name of the street in front of the once happy, summer-time haunt, turned deserted rock buildings, is Jollyville.  The Opening will feature many fine artists from the surrounding area, and will be held on Thursday Sept. 23rd at 7pm.  It is located in downtown Tulsa just west of 3rd and Peoria.  If you are unable to attend that night, the gallery is open Tuesday-Friday from 11-5.  It should be a festive evening!!  Hope to see you there!!!!
